The end of the trail...

Today was my last day on the Great Allegheny Passage Trail. I have been out here a long time, and it was a bittersweet ride knowing that this amazing, historical trail would soon be a part of my own history. I did my best to take mental snapshots all the way down my last 50 miles knowing there was a good chance I would never ride down this way again.

Today was a tough day for meeting up with my support vehicle. Because the trail I'm on is non-motorized, and often way in the middle of what seems to be the rawest of land, it's been a challenge to connect with Julian.

I woke up feeling exhausted and a little under-the-weather today. The pounding rain certainly didn't add to my urge to get out on the trail and get going either. Unfortunately, too, I missed the hotel breakfast.

The city of Pittsburgh seemed as if it was in lockdown. Law enforcement and military vehicles were everywhere. Honestly, it seemed hard to believe I was even in the United States anymore.
